At AlphaPilates we don’t just teach Pilates, we inspire self-discovery through movement and in so doing transform the body and mind. Physical fitness is one of the fundamentals of happiness. The Pilates method, called Contrology, transcends mere exercise by connecting your mind and body to work as one. As you flow through each movement you create strength, flexibility, and resilience. And when you become consciously aware of movement your mind and body harmonize so you feel fully alive.

The Eight Principles

Joseph Pilates is the visionary who birthed this art form through his passion, discipline, and unwavering belief in human potential. We honor his legacy by preserving the Classical Pilates method. Pilates designed his exercise program to support his philosophies, including concentration, precision, control, breathing and flowing movements. He called his system: “Contrology”. We follow his approach closely combining a focus on “body, mind and spirit” to achieve a more vigorous and active life.
Breathing
Pilates uses Lateral Thoracic Breathing. to take wide full breaths, filling the lungs and letting the ribcage expand.
Precision
Pilates’ precision principle, executing one exercise with deliberate exactitude is more important than completing more repetitions.
Alignment
Pilates works by aligning the body in a way that protects and supports the whole system of the bone structure and internal organs.
Awareness
One of the major results of Contrology is gaining the mastery of your mind over the complete control of your body.
Concentration
Pilates requires intense focus, as it is a bridge between awareness and movement.
Centering
Your center is your “Powerhouse”, which consists of your abdomen, lower back, and pelvis. In Pilates all moves originate from the Powerhouse.
Flow
Is often called ‘fluidity’ and it refers to the grace and ease Pilates exercises should be performed. There are no rigid or static moves in Pilates.
Control
Refers to having complete muscular control when completing each exercise.

AlphaPilates

Alphapilates is a Classical Contrology studio that focuses on the transformation of body, mind, and spirit. Classes are in a non-competitive atmosphere where you’ll find camaraderie, inspiration, and the feeling of accomplishment.  (Private instruction is also available.)  You will discover the incredible capacity of your muscles, the importance of rhythm in your breath, and the healing power of movement. The results are as Pilates himself stated, that you “Return to Life”.

AlphaPilates is a boutique approach to Pilates with an individual focus.

No more than six people in a class.

The Master Teacher

Rebecca Silvey

Rebecca Silvey is the owner and instructor. She has been focused on how movement can affect the body, mind, and spirit since childhood. She has a background in dance and a passion for education to help others, which led her to Pilates. Rebecca has a BFA in Music and Education and did her MFA work in Dance and Theater. She holds a professional certification in Pilates through Polestar Pilates and has studied all methods of Pilates Instruction that are taught today. She has been able to synthesize the philosophy of Joseph Pilates and incorporate his methods of Contrology into poetry for the individual and recovery for those who need to rekindle their passion for living.  

Rebecca is a Master Teacher with over 20 years’ experience teaching this methodology. She is trained and certified for instruction in Yoga, Spinning, Aqua Aerobics, Step Aerobics, Reebok Cycle, Kaiser Cycle, Kickboxing, Kettle Bells, and Zumba. She has studied Classical Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Funk, Latin Ballroom, Flamenco and even Hula.

AlphaPIlates believes that your body is a canvas waiting for its story to unfold. With each breath, you paint resilience. With each stretch, you add vibrant hues. And when you rise from the Reformer, you’ve created a masterpiece-a testament to your journey. Our studio provides the palette, your movement becomes the art.
